Is Zapper down? User reports show no current problems with Zapper

Zapper turns a phone into a payment tool. Scan a code at a till, a restaurant table or an online checkout and the card on file settles the bill. This page keeps watch on Zapper status and collects Zapper down reports as they land. It also covers the bills, fines and vouchers side of the app.

Is Zapper down right now?

Open the live Zapper status at the top of this page and compare it with the newest Zapper down reports from other users. A flat graph means the service is running and the fault is near your phone. A sharp climb means many people hit the same wall.

While the graph climbs, hold off on repeating a payment, because a stuck charge can still settle minutes later. Keep the receipt screen open until it clears.

Is Zapper down for me or everyone?

Scan a second code somewhere else, like a parking ticket. If every scan fails, the problem sits with the app or your card, not one shop. If others around you pay fine, update the app and sign in again.

Scanning a code at the till, at the table and online

At a restaurant the code sits on the bill itself. The app opens with the amount and a tip line you can adjust before confirming. In a shop you approve the amount on your phone instead of handing over a card.

Online checkout works in reverse: pick Zapper on the payment page and a code appears on screen for your phone to read. Split-bill lets each person scan the same code and pay their share.

Paying bills, traffic fines and parking in the app

The Payments area holds more than shopping. You can settle accounts from a long list of billers. You can also check and pay traffic fines, and scan a parking ticket to skip the pay station. Airtime and data top-ups sit in the same area.

Keeping cards, vouchers and loyalty cards in My Cards

You can store several bank cards and pick the right one at each payment. My Cards also holds digital loyalty cards and vouchers from shops and restaurants. During a Zapper outage the card list can load blank, so wait for the graph to settle first.

Setting a password and reading payment notices

A password lock guards the card details, switchable from the security settings. Every finished payment sends three notices: one in the app, one email and one SMS. If the shop sees nothing, show the till the SMS as proof.

Common Zapper Problems and Fixes

A failed Zapper payment usually traces back to the camera, the card on file or the code itself. Run through these five checks before you pay a second time.

Camera will not read the QR code

Wipe the lens and hold the phone steady about a hand length from the code. Brighten your screen if the code sits on one. A cracked screen protector can blur the scan, so test with it lifted at one corner.

App says the card was declined

Check the card balance and daily limit in your own bank app first. Then confirm the expiry date inside Zapper matches the plastic. If one card keeps failing, pay with a second stored card instead.

Payment shows paid but the shop has no record

Keep the app open on the result screen and ask the shop to recheck their Zapper sales list after a minute. Your SMS notice carries the details the till needs. Do not pay again until the first charge settles or reverses.

Bill payment stays on processing

Leave the bill unpaid in any other app until the Zapper result is final, because paying twice sends two settlements to one account. Processing usually clears within a short wait. If it fails, the amount returns to your card.

Vouchers or loyalty cards missing in My Cards

Pull the My Cards screen down to refresh before adding a card again. Vouchers tied to a finished promotion drop off on their own. If a loyalty card still hides, sign out and back in so the wallet reloads.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay with Zapper in a shop?

Open the app, tap scan and point the camera at the till code. Check the amount, add a tip if offered, then confirm. The till gets its confirmation as the payment clears.

Why did my Zapper payment go through twice?

A stuck connection can make a first try look failed while it still settles later. Check your bank app for both charges. The duplicate usually reverses on its own.

What cards can I store in the Zapper app?

You can store several bank cards and switch between them at each payment. Cards stay encrypted, and a password lock guards them in the app. Update expired cards in My Cards.

Can I pay a traffic fine with Zapper?

Yes. Open the fines area from the Payments screen, load the fine from the notice and pay with a stored card. The paid fine stays in your history as proof.

Does Zapper work for online checkout too?

Yes. Choose Zapper on the store payment page and a code appears on screen. Scan it with the app and confirm the amount.

How do I split a restaurant bill in Zapper?

Each person scans the code on the bill and edits the amount down to their share. The tip line can change before anyone confirms. The restaurant sees each part payment land on one bill.
