Is TTC down right now?
TTC is working for most riders right now, with no sign of a wide outage across its website and apps.
The TTC status on this page is built from live reports by riders. When reports jump, ttc.ca or the PRESTO app is often struggling.
Is TTC down for me or everyone?
Reports from riders across Toronto at the same time point to a wider TTC outage. Reports from one area only point to a local fault or your connection. Try both side by side, since a real outage hits both.
Trip planner and schedules on ttc.ca
The trip planner on ttc.ca builds routes from live schedule data. When the site slows down, the planner can time out, return no routes, or show trips that no longer run. Schedules pages can also fail to load at all.
Planners can lag behind sudden changes on the street. A closure or detour may not appear in the plan right away.
Live service alerts and arrival times
The alerts page is where riders check delays, closures and elevator outages. During a fault the page can freeze, show old alerts, or drop new ones. Next vehicle times can also vanish from the site when the data feed behind them stalls.
PRESTO app sign in and account pages
Many riders run their cards through the PRESTO app and prestocard.ca. Sign in can loop, refuse a correct password, or fail during planned maintenance at night. When sign in breaks, loads, balances and card settings are all out of reach.
Card loads and balances in the app
Money added to a physical card through the app or website can take hours to land on the card. The balance on screen can also lag behind the gates. A load sent through the phone itself lands at once.
Common TTC Problems and Fixes
Most faults clear on their own, but these steps fix the ones on your side.
The trip planner returns no routes
Refresh the page and check your start and end points are inside Toronto. If the planner still fails, open the schedules page for your route instead. When the planner and schedules fail together, the fault sits with the website.
PRESTO sign in keeps failing
Close the app fully and open it again, then check for an update in your app store. Try prestocard.ca in a browser next. If both refuse your password, reset it once and wait before trying again.
A card load is not showing
A load sent to a physical card can take hours to arrive. Tap the card on a reader to pull the load down onto it. Loads done through the phone land at once, so use that route when you can.
The alerts page shows old news
Pull the page down to refresh it, or clear your browser cache and load it again. Compare it with the alert banner on the home page. If both show the same old alert, the feed behind them has stalled.
The balance in the app looks wrong
Log out of the app and back in to force a fresh balance. Taps and loads can take time to reach the screen. If the website shows the same wrong figure, the delay sits with PRESTO, not your card.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the TTC website down or is it just my phone?
If ttc.ca and the PRESTO app fail in the same way, the fault is wider than your phone. When reports here stay low, the problem is likely on your device.
Why does my PRESTO load take so long to appear?
Loads sent to a physical card travel through the reader network before they land, and that trip can take hours. Holding the card to your phone loads it at once.
How can I plan a trip while the trip planner is down?
Open the schedules page for your route on ttc.ca and work out the times from there. Map apps also carry TTC routes and live times.
What should I do when the service alerts page will not load?
Refresh the page, or open the TTC home page, which carries a banner for big disruptions. The fault usually sits with the website and clears on its own.
Does the PRESTO app work during website maintenance?
Often not. The app and prestocard.ca share one account system, so planned maintenance can take both down together, often late at night. Station machines keep working.
Can I check my PRESTO balance without signing in?
Yes. A fare machine shows your balance when you tap your card on it. The app and website need sign in for the full picture.
