Is NiSource down right now?

Many failures trace to one change: old user IDs became email usernames. A wide nisource outage is rarer than that switch catching people out.
Is NiSource down for me or everyone?

Your username changed to your email address
On the new brand websites, your first sign in uses the user ID from the old site. After that sign in, your email address is validated and becomes your username for the next time. Customers who keep typing the old user ID after the switch lock themselves out with correct old details.
If you forgot your user ID entirely, it can be emailed to you. Your login is your email address, and the password reset runs from the same sign in pages.
Registering without your account number
You can still register if you do not know your account number. The lookup works from your phone number plus one more proof: a PIN, your date of birth, a tax ID for business accounts, or the last four digits of your social security number.
One login for the website and the app
The brand apps and websites share one account and one login, with Face or Touch ID as an option on the phone. What you enroll in on one side shows on the other: paperless billing, AutoPay, budget billing, payment plans and notifications all ride on the same profile.

Old user ID stopped working
After your first sign in on the new website, your email address becomes your username. Sign in with the email instead of the old user ID. If you forgot the user ID before the switch, ask for it to be emailed to you from the sign in help.
Forgot my email or password
Your login is your email address, and the password reset sits on the brand sign in page. Use the email tied to the account; a reset sent to an old address explains most silent failures. Check spam before you request a second one.
Can not register without an account number
Use the account lookup: your phone number plus one proof such as your PIN or the last four digits of your social security number finds the account. Business customers can use a tax ID. Then register with the number it gives you.
Bill summary shows but full bill will not open
Open View Bill from the dashboard for the full detail rather than reading the summary line. If the full bill spins, clear your browser cache or try the brand app.
Too many accounts linked to use the app
Profiles holding more than 15 linked accounts cannot sign in to the mobile app; those accounts are managed on the website instead. Split daily accounts into the app profile and keep the long tail on the web if you need both.

If your profile links more than 15 accounts, the app refuses the sign in and those accounts live on the website instead. With fewer accounts, the website login works there too.
