Is Minecraft Down Right Now?
Minecraft’s servers are running right now. If you cannot log in or join a server, check whether the trouble is with Mojang’s login servers or just your game. Single-player worlds work even when online services have a Minecraft outage.
Minecraft is the best-selling video game ever, made by Mojang and owned by Microsoft. Players build and explore blocky worlds alone or on servers. This page shows its live Minecraft status. Check the chart above to see if others report login or server trouble. The Minecraft server status picture here comes from live player reports, not from one official board.
Is Minecraft Down for Me or Everyone?
Check the live chart above. If many players report failed logins at once, the authentication servers are down. When Minecraft authentication servers are down, that wall of failed logins is the tell. If only you fail, try the fixes below, since stale login tokens cause most single-user failures. Are Minecraft servers down is the group question; a lone failure is almost always local.
Why Can’t I Log In to Minecraft?
Login failures usually mean the authentication servers cannot verify you. Close the launcher fully, not just minimize it, and open it again. This forces a fresh login token.
If that fails, log out of your Microsoft account in the launcher and log back in. This re-authenticates you and clears weird token errors. Make sure your system clock is correct, since a wrong date breaks login security.
Unofficial launchers cannot log in at all. Only the official launcher can talk to the auth servers. Cracked clients will always show login errors.
What Does “Failed to Verify Username” Mean?
This error means the server could not confirm your identity with Mojang. It does not mean you are banned. Restart the launcher for a fresh token, and flush your DNS cache on Windows to fix routing trouble.
Why Can’t I Join Multiplayer Servers?
Your firewall may block the game. Open Windows security settings and allow Minecraft through the firewall. A weak connection also stops joins, so close apps eating your bandwidth.
Why Does the Launcher Show “Play Demo”?
The launcher shows demo mode when it cannot see your purchase. You are likely signed into the wrong Microsoft account. Switch to the account that owns the game.
Common Minecraft Problems and Fixes
Cannot log in
Fully close and reopen the launcher. Log out and back into your Microsoft account.
“Failed to verify username”
Restart the launcher for a fresh token. Flush DNS cache if it keeps happening.
“Authentication servers are down”
Check the Xbox status page. If others fail too, wait for Mojang to fix it.
Cannot join multiplayer
Allow the game through your firewall. Use a stable connection, not weak wifi.
Launcher stuck on loading
Update the launcher to the newest version. Old versions break against new server APIs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I fix the ‘Failed to connect to the server’ error in Minecraft?
This error usually means the server is offline, full, or running a different game version than yours. Check that your game version matches the server version shown in the server list. Then restart the game and try joining again.
Why can’t I log in to Minecraft?
Close the launcher fully and reopen it. Log out and back into your Microsoft account for a fresh token.
What does “Failed to verify username” mean?
The server could not confirm your identity. It is not a ban. Restart the launcher and try again.
Why can’t I play multiplayer?
Your firewall may block it. Allow Minecraft through Windows firewall and use a stable connection.
Can I play Minecraft during a server outage?
Yes. Single-player worlds work offline. Only logins and multiplayer need the servers.
What can I do if my Minecraft world disappeared or will not load?
Worlds can break when the game closes suddenly during saving or after a faulty update. Look for a backup copy inside the world settings or your device storage. Restore the backup, and copy your worlds before big updates in the future.
