Is DigiD down right now?
People land here after the app rejects a QR code they just scanned, so they check the DigiD status first. DigiD down reports climb when activation stalls, an SMS code never lands, or the login page loops.
When the service runs well, the app opens with your PIN and confirms a login fast. A fault in one step does not mean the whole login system is offline.

Why does the DigiD app fail to scan the QR code?
The app reads the QR code on the login page with your phone camera, and dim light or glare breaks that read. Firefox privacy settings can also blur the code on screen into a block that no camera can read.
A clean read needs a bright screen and a steady hand. Hold the phone back a little instead of close to the monitor.
How does activating the DigiD app with an SMS code work?
Activation links the app to your account with a code sent by text to your stored number. Type that code in the app, set your own PIN, and the app is ready.
What happens if you forget your DigiD app PIN?
A forgotten PIN blocks the app itself, not the account behind it. A reset route in the app, or a fresh activation with SMS or ID check, restores access on the same phone.
Why does the ID check reject your identity document?
The ID check scans the chip in your passport, ID card, or driving licence through the phone. A case over the chip or moving the phone too soon ends the check with an error.

Raise the screen brightness and hold the phone steady at reading distance. Turn off strong privacy settings if the code looks blurred.
Request one fresh SMS code only
Ask for a single new code and wait for that text before typing. Older codes stop working once a newer one is sent.
Finish the DigiD app setup first
Install the app and complete activation before a login elsewhere. A half-finished activation leaves later logins stuck at confirm.
Reset a forgotten app PIN
Follow the PIN reset inside the app instead of guessing further. A reset with SMS or ID check is faster than repeated tries.
Switch browser for the login page
Run the login in Chrome or Edge if your browser renders the code badly. A standard browser shows the QR image clean.
